Away Meet against Indian Hills on Monday June 9th
Hey Shark Families,
Thank you all so much for your help last night. While we would have liked for a better result, the score was really close (13-point difference) and our team swam so well.
We will have practice today and there will be donuts!
Here’s what to look for in this email:
*Indian Hills Away Meet
*Junior Sharks
*Swim Atlanta Swim Clinic
*Chattahoochee Gold Swim Clinic
Away Meet at Indian Hills:
Our next Away Meet is on Monday, June 9th. Details regarding the time to check in and warm up, pool address, parking, and their concessions to follow once I receive this information from their coordinator. I do know that the pool is a 6-lane pool so the meet should go faster.
Please RSVP attending or not attending by Thursday, June 5th at MIDNIGHT. You can do this by going to the website: https://somersetsharks.swimtopia.com/
Remember, if you do not want to stay for those late relays you can make a note in SwimTopia that you are leaving early, not available for late relays.
We need more volunteers at this meet since the pool is 6-lanes. We will need the following volunteer positions:
*1 Person – Lane Manager – 1st Shift
*1 Person – Runner – 1st Shift
*2 People – 7&8 Bullpen – 2nd Shift
*1 Person – Floater – 2nd Shift
*2 People -Timer – 2nd Shift
Junior Sharks:
Last year our Junior Sharks did not attend away meets. Once I have spoken with the coordinator, I will let you know ASAP one way or the other. If the junior sharks do not attend the away meet, we will have a race on the day of practice.
Swim Atlanta Swim Clinic:
We have two awesome opportunities next week for swim clinics with year-round swim teams. Tuesday, June 10th from 8:30-9:30, a coach from local club swim team Swim Atlanta (link) will be at Somerset Pool to do a stroke clinic for our swim team. This is a fantastic opportunity for the swimmers to continue improving their technique and learn new things from a club swim coach.
Swimmers in the 7&8 should attend if available. 9 and older swimmers are invited to come early for this.
I know that this clinic is in the time of the 5 & 6 year old’s practice. If available, your child can come swim at 9:30-10. Junior sharks will still swim at their time.
Chattahoochee Gold Swim Clinic:
We will also have a year-round swim team, Chattahoochee Gold (link) holding a clinic on Friday, June 13th from 10-11. This is another great opportunity for swimmers to improve their strokes. All Swimmers 7 and older should attend if possible. You can still come to your practice and stay for the clinic, only come to your practice, or only come to the clinic.
I will be sending additional information about a state qualifying meet later this week.
If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.
Thanks,
Alicia Luechtefeld
