Chadds Walk Away Meet Details and Other Important Information

    Sharks,

This is a reminder that you must RSVP by noon, June 5th, for the Away Meet at Chadds Walk on Tuesday, June 9th.

Even if you plan on not attending the meet please go in and mark the Not Attending This Meet selection. You can RSVP or mark not attending via the website (link) or SwimTopia app (link). If you do not register your child, they will not be able to participate in the meet.

If you RSVP that you are attending, please attend. We understand that sickness happens but if it does, please text me (304)593-2138 ASAP. If your kid is feeling under the weather and you are uncertain if you are going to be there let us know by Monday evening or if Tuesday, they wake up not feeling well let me know then. That way when we are finalizing the heat sheets, we do not put your child in a relay. Once you are at the meet, do not leave until all your child’s events are finished. Leaving early leaves a relay team without a person which means those that stayed to swim cannot swim. If you do not want to stay for those late relays you can make a note in SwimTopia that you are leaving early, not available for late relays.

What you will find in this email:

    Pool Description:

The away meet is located at Chadds Walk. The pool is a 4-lane pool. I will have more details on blocks, shallow end as soon as possible.

We have been to this pool in the past and they have a stadium style seating, but you will still need chairs. The pool also is in a wooded area, and we have needed bug spray in the past.

    Pool Address:

The Princeton Lake Pool is located at: 2146 Spindrift Court Marietta, GA

I have not heard from their coordinator for this meet yet, so I do not have check in times, warm up times, parking, or concession information. I will send an email as soon as I have this information. I will also let Junior Shark parents know as soon as possible if they can attend the away meet.

    Volunteers:

We still have open jobs for volunteers for this meet. Remember, you must volunteer at least 2 times per swimmer for the season. Our swim team is 100% run by volunteers. If we do not fill these spots, we cannot have a swim meet. We have the following openings available:

    *1 Person – 6 & Under Bullpen

    *2 People – 7 & 8 Bullpen – First Shift

    *2 People – 7 & 8 Bullpen – Second

*1 Person – Lane Judge – First Shift

*1 Person – Lane Judge – Second Shift

*1 Person – Lane Manager – Second Shift

*2 People – Lane Manager – Second Shift

    *1 Person – Timer – Second Shift

Also, if you sign up to volunteer, please notify me via text if you are not going to make it or are going to be late.

    SwimTopia Requests:

In SwimTopia if you are making a note with the events your child would like to swim, we do our best to honor these requests whenever possible. However, coaches must also consider the overall team lineup, age group needs, relay teams, and scoring opportunities when creating the meet entries. Because of this, we cannot guarantee that all event requests can be accommodated.

If your note indicates that your swimmer cannot participate in a specific event or that your family cannot stay for relays, we will make sure to honor those requests.

Please remember that meet lineups are carefully developed by the coaches prior to the meet. We ask swimmers and parents to trust the coaches' decisions and understand that event assignments may differ from requested events based on the needs of the team. Coaches are focused on managing the meet and supporting all swimmers, so during the meet is generally not the best time to discuss lineup decisions.

    5 & 6 Bullpen:

For our 5 & 6 bullpen swimmers, we ask that iPads, tablets, phones, and other electronic devices be left at home or remain with parents whenever possible. Our goal is to keep swimmers engaged, attentive, and easy for bullpen volunteers to supervise throughout the meet. Limiting electronic devices also helps ensure that swimmers hear event calls, stay with their age group, and are ready when it's time to report for their races.

    Chattahoochee Gold Evaluations

Chattahoochee Gold, a year-round swim team, is offering evaluations to join the team. See the attached flyer for more information. Chattahoochee Gold will be at the pool on June 17 for a clinic for our 7 and up swimmers.

If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.

    Thanks,

    Alicia Luechtefeld
